Aston CRISIS Centre hosts ESRC seminar in Leeds
Aston CRISIS Centre directors Prof Duncan Shaw and Dr Patrick Tissington hosted an ESRC funded seminar at the University of Leeds this week. The event was attended by a group of academics and practitioners with discussion focused on ways of pushing forward the research agenda into emergency issues. Practitioner participants came from the Army, Coastguard, Police, government and emergency planning. They were joined by academics from the Universities of Manchester, Nottingham, Leeds, Glamorgan and East London. Sessions were held on evacuation, training, communities, inter-agency cooperation and recovery and a focused list of research ideas was generated. This list is available on the CRISIS Centre discussion board and we welcome feedback and comments. The list will form the basis for sessions at the upcoming InterCEPt Conference at Aston 21-23 September.
